CHAR is a seasonal mobile food cart based
in Portland, OR that offers unique menus of farm-to-festival food and drink to community gatherings throughout the Pacific Northwest.

We focus on events that empower people: music and art festivals, neighborhood street
fairs and farmers markets, benefit shows, and community events of all kinds.

Our mission is three-fold: to enhance
your overall experience through the skillful preparation of mouthwatering food and drink, strengthen our local food economies by serving as a direct link between farmers and the broader community while building networks of mutual support in the process, and to have fun while doing it.

We source locally but cook globally, combining the culinary ethos of the Pacific Northwest with flavor profiles from around the world. Our menus are built around high-equality, slow-smoked barbecue meats, local seasonal produce, and aromatic herbs.

Our experienced crew and outstanding equipment allow us to cook for high-volume crowds in challenging environments without sacrificing quality, efficiency, or attention to detail.

Highly mobile pop-up restaurant.

High-quality, all-natural Oregon-raised meats and wild seafood.

Local, organic produce and aromatic herbs.

Our Philosophy

"The shared meal elevates eating from a mechanical process of fueling the body to a ritual of family and community, from the mere animal biology to an act of culture."

                                                                                                                Michael Pollan
